Medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of raspberry, chocolate, menthol and Asian spices. Supple and sweet but a bit youthfully disjointed, with the combination of menthol, spice and herb notes and strong acidity giving the back half a slightly sour quality today. Tannins are fairly light, though. This gained some weight with extended aeration, suggesting that it will benefit from several years in the cellar.

Perfumed – sweet oak and dark fruit and white pepper. Expressive. Both juicy and savoury, though the oak is quite dominant at the moment. Quite tight and firm compared with many in this vintage but not at all harsh. Lots of spice on the long finish.(JH)
(20% vendange entier Good bright, dark red. Crushed raspberry, licorice, pepper and a whiff of smoked meat on the nose. Sweet, spicy, round and generous, with dark fruit flavors complicated by herbs and smoked meat. This has good energy from the stems. Finishes with broad, fine-grained tannins, a distinctly glyceral quality and very good length. Rich, suave wine with an earthy complexity. Am I underrating this?

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most established wine producers. Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, it is the largest vineyard owner in the Côte d’Or with 130 hectares of vines.
