Production levels in Napa don’t come much smaller than Levensohn’s Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate was producing just 25 cases from its inaugural 2004 vintage until 2011. As this single-vineyard site matured, production peaked at just 200 cases. Located a stone’s throw from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards – Dr. Crane and Las Piedras, this Saint Helena vineyard is hallowed ground. Following fire damage in 2020, the property was sold and these last few cases are all that remain of this short-lived but much valued Napa estate.

These two brilliant Cabernet Sauvignons are made by superstar winemaker Benoit Touquette. Showing similar to last year’s vintage, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate vineyard just next to Las Piedras boasts a saturated purple color, a huge nose of black fruits, cassis, toasted spice, and scorched earth, full-bodied richness and depth, and a broad, sumptuous, sexy texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. It’s a rock star Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy over the coming two decades.

Punteggio 95/100 · Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Oct 2017

Containing a 5% splash of Merlot and aged 19 months in French oak (80% new), the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep garnet-purple color with vibrant notions of red and black currants, violets, blackberries and black cherries, plus a cinnamon toast and pencil shavings undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, lively and purely fruited on the palate, it has a firm, grainy backbone and long finish of spicy layers.
