Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2018-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Village offers crisp and focused aromas of blackberry, mulberry and hints of undergrowth that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening, more black fruit than red with a simple finish that I would like to see gain more complexity in bottle. It just needs to "gee up" over the next 12-18 months. Tasted October 2016.

Moderately saturated medium red. Slightly wild scents of black raspberry, spices and leather. Good juicy lift to the flavors of cherry, dark berries, game, spices and licorice. Not a particularly tannic style; in fact, this sappy village wine has the balance of sweetness and acidity and the inner-mouth perfume to give early pleasure.

(one-third whole clusters; 15% new oak): Bright red. Very primary aromas of black cherry and dark berries. Juicy and sweet in the mouth, showing a supple texture to the bright flavors of black raspberry, flowers and spices. This lovely village wine should give considerable early pleasure.

Correct and brisk with quite an edge to it. No shortage of acidity. Not charming but honest. (JR)
