Wet woolly nose. May get there eventually but I would not recommend drinking this rather old-fashioned wine now. (JR)

Pale bright yellow. Lovely citrus lift to the aromas of pink grapefruit, minerals and white truffle. Sweet, creamy and cleanly made; supple but not exotic. Shows less nerve and austerity than the young 2014 but this broad, concentrated wine nonetheless finishes with surprising lemony precision and lift.

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy is more complex and mineral-driven than the Côte de Léchet with vibrant citrus fruit, a touch of flint and hazelnut. Again, there is wonderful definition. The palate is fresh and crisp with lovely poise and salinity, gently building toward the long and tender finish. This is just excellent.

Everything about Laurent's winery and wines are as they should be. There is not really much to add from my commentary last year. These are just beautifully crafted wines that do everything that Chablis should do: taut, linear, reserved at first, but revealing an innate sense of intensity. "The 2013 is less Chablis than 2014," Laurent remarked, "but it still has acidity 3.4 before storm and then there was a lot of rot. So we had to go gentle in the winery with a gentle pressing. Our production was about 5% to 10% down." I retasted through his 2013s that are now in bottle, plus the 2014s from vat. Like many other growers there's a preference for the more recent vintage, which is nothing to discredit the 2013s that should be more approachable (and I can testify that myself, because I immediately bought a bottle of Chablis Beauroy from him and opened it during the following weekend's barbecue. My wife approved and there's no higher praise than that.) Tribut remains a little under the radar, perhaps in part because there are no headline-grabbing Grand Crus that bear his name. But what he can do with Village and Premier Crus makes up for that. eRobertParker.com.August, 2015
