2007 Domaine Georges Mugneret Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru

Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2007 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots from Mugneret-Gibourg has a perfumed bouquet with dark cherry and blackcurrant aromas, a little high toned as this cuvée can be and yet it remains nicely focused. The palate is chewy on the entry and this suggests that it may have undergone more extraction than usual. The fruit is as much black as red, proffering pastille-like notes towards the finish that at least has retained more freshness than its peers. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Mid blackish ruby. Pungent, mineral/liquorice nose. Very fresh fruit and really racy. Great poise and balance. Lots of energy. Lots of Vosne character. So clean and fresh! (JR)

Bright medium red. Expressive, ripe nose offers smoky redcurrant, coffee and underbrush. A step up in intensity and thrust from the Vignes Rondes, with sound acidity giving a juicy, energetic quality to the cherry and spice flavors. Finishes with good spicy persistence and lift.
