Note di degustazione
(the estate made 70% of a normal crop): Medium red. Slightly diffuse aromas of red and darker berries, earth and game. Shows more red than black fruits in the mouth, with complicating notes of clove and underbrush. I wanted a bit more flesh and stuffing. Not bad but not exciting. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins. These vines were planted on broken rock in 1980. (Clair will not bottle any Chambolle-Musigny Les Veroilles owing to the frost.)

The 2016 Morey St Denis en la Rue de Vergy was impacted by the frost by 20%. It has a delightful bouquet with pure red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, with rose petals coming through with time. The palate is fresh on the entry with silky smooth tannin, a fine bead of acidity, taut and harmonious with such pretty Morello cherries and crushed strawberry toward the poised finish. This is one of the best Rue de Vergys that I have tasted from Bruno Clair.
Just next to Clos de Tart. They have Chardonnay too. Light and lively and dancing. Lots of sweet fruit. A little angular. (JR)
