The medium-bodied 2000 Chardonnay La Carriere (1,596 cases) reveals a creamy, leesy, smoky, citrus-dominated bouquet. The complex nose is not followed up on the palate, as the wine is short with high acidity. This French-styled Chardonnay would have benefited from additional length and texture. Tel. Faintly hazy appearance. Aromas of white flowers, grapefruit, lemon candy and wet stone. Bright but shy, with good mouth feel but only moderate flavor development and intensity. Comes across as slightly hard-edged today, with some acidity yet to be absorbed.
