Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru was showing some sulfur issues on the nose though these seems to be addressed with aeration in the glass. Underneath lies quite an attractive and complex bouquet with tinned apricot and citrus notes, yellow flowers and honeysuckle becoming more evident. The palate is well balanced with vibrant citrus fruit, well judged acidity, impressive weight in the mouth with a spicy finish. I feel this is just beginning to come out of its shell since last year. Tasted May 2016.

Lightest touch of struck match. There's again just something a bit hard here, the acidity seems harsh even though there is good depth of creamy citrus fruit. (JH)
