Pale straw gold. Delicate nose and beautiful balance. Crystalline precision and great refreshment value. A great example of the refinement of top Australian Chardonnays today. Persistent. Already a real pleasure to drink but it should continue to give pleasure for several years yet.

The middle tier of the Vasse Felix Chardonnays, the 2015 Chardonnay features hints of struck match on the nose along with notes of stone fruit and tangerine. It's medium-bodied but gives a greater sensation of richness and ripeness than either of the 2016 Chardonnays reviewed this issue. The finish is perhaps a bit chunky and less precise than it could be, but this wine still delivers plenty of character and flavor.
Gorgeous creamy and mealy aroma. But with lovely green fruits freshness. Rich but so dry there’s excellent balance. (JH)
