The darkly alluring 2019 Syrah Tellus opens in the glass with a rich mix of crushed violet candies, sugar-dusted plums and dark chocolate. This is soft-textured yet finessed, with brisk acids that energize its tart wild berry fruits and inner herbal tones. It finishes lightly structured with a bitter twang of currants and black tea. A trace of sour citrus maintains a lovely freshness. This is quite characterful.

You have to hand it to the Cotarella family for achieving this level of quality at this affordable price point. The 2019 Syrah Tellus Falesco offers a combination of dark blackberry fruit and savory spice with background notes of leather and white peppercorn. The tannins are sweet on this fully concentrated Italian Syrah.
