Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2021-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2020

Slightly more expensive than the Les Vieilles Vignes, the 2017 Meursault Les Narvaux comes from vines just above the Premier Cru lieu-dit of Les Genevrières. Brought up in 15% new French oak, it has a rocking bouquet of caramelized green apples, crushed citrus, toasted nuts, and flinty minerality. These give way to a medium-bodied Meursault that has racy acidity, beautiful balance, and building richness that comes through on the finish. It’s going to put on weight with another year in bottle and keep for over a decade. It’s a brilliant effort that I’d be thrilled to have in the cellar.

The 2017 Meursault Les Narvaux is still a few years away from its prime drinking window, but it is really beginning to show beautifully, offering up reductive notes of pear, sweet citrus oil, toasted nuts and iodine. Medium- to full-bodied, satiny and suave, it's pure and seamless, with racy acids and a long, mineral finish.

Own vines, biodynamic.  Barrel sample. Intense aroma that has hints of orange and apricot as well as some oak spice. Deep and inviting. Oak quite evident on the palate but balanced by that ripe, intense but crisp fruit flavour. (JH)

(just 10% new oak, vs. around 20% for the premier crus at this address): Good medium yellow. Aromas of yellow peach, spices, menthol and minerals. On the palate, a flavor of grapefruit and penetrating lemon-limey acidity are nicely buffered by an impression of roundness. Finishes with very good length. This wine always has a relatively low pH, according to assistant Christophe Morin. I like its combination of texture and tension. A very good start to this tasting. (12.8% natural alcohol)
