The 2023 Chardonnay Carex is open-knit, gracious and inviting. Tangerine peel, spice, mint, dried flowers and light tropical accents lend an exotic flair. Brisk saline notes take over on the mid-palate and finish, shaping the wine while also adding quite a bit of tension.

The palate has fantastic structure and is laser-focused and refreshing, with brilliant transparency and a chalky texture. Carex comes from the DuMOL estate and the Wente Hyde selection of Chardonnay, planted with meter-by-meter spacing. Drink 2026-2038.
