1986 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vintage Release Black Label

Peter Douglas's first vintage – he was winemaker until Sue Hodder took over in 1998. Less pure and punchy than the 1982. Some mushrooms, undergrowth, nutty (mushroom and nut roast?) and cedar and green fig/pea flavours, celery seeds, more stemmy. Smells older than the 1982. Rich and soft but completely different flavour profile from the 1982 with a slightly savoury/sour tang on the finish. pH 3.41, TA 5.8 g/l, RS 1.6 g/l.  (JH)
