2021 HALL Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder

Hall's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder features scents of black cherries, bay leaf, sage and mocha on the nose. It follows the winery's full-bodied approach, but it isn't as big or rich as the Howell Mountain bottling. Streamlined and velvety, with a long, lingering finish, it showcases dark fruit and subtle herb shadings to great effect.

I loved the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder, which has a terrific sense of balance and completeness that makes it remarkably compelling. Blackcurrants, blueberries, sage, wild herbs, and graphite are just some of its nuances, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with ultra-fine yet building tannins, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. This complex, nuanced, layered 2021 is going to benefit from just 3-4 years of bottle age and evolve for well over two decades.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is redolent of iron, red plum fruit, white pepper, incense, tobacco, cedar and dried herbs. Driving tannins give the wine palpable energy all the way through to the persistent, layered finish. This is pure Veeder in an intense, voluptuous style. Dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Franc round out the blend. I loved this in barrel and find it every bit as compelling today.
