Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2045, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, May 2022

From a Moon Mountain vineyard that supplies a number of top-flight producers, Di Costanzo's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is a fine effort, with herbal suggestions of bay leaf and sage accenting black cherry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, it's framed by firm tannins into a streamlined shape on the palate, finishing long and dusty yet simultaneously mouthwatering.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is off the charts. Wild and exotic in its aromatics, the 2018 opens to reveal an exotic mélange of red fruit, licorice, iron, spice, menthol and blood orange. A wine of majestic intensity, the 2018 is also very young and in need of time in bottle to shed some of its formidable tannins. Hints of spice, earthiness, rose petal and dried herbs linger on the savory finish.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is flat-out stunning. Sadly, there are just six barrels of it. Rich, explosive and wonderfully deep, the 2018 captures the essence of site in its muscular, virile personality. Grilled herb, cedar, tobacco, dried flowers and scorched earth all run through the 2018. The 2018 has closed down quite a bit after its bottling. I would not be in a rush here.

Another highlight in this range, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Montecillo Vineyard is dark, muscular and full of the pedigree that has made this Moon Mountain site so revered. Dark fruit, savory overtones and layers of mineral-infused brightness take shape in the glass, followed by subtler notes of smoke, licorice, grilled herbs and blood orange that add character.
