The 2016 Gracia has an exotic bouquet that is showing some VA compared with its peers. The palate is very sweet on the entry, rounded and plush, a little cloying in style, with a sweet candied blueberry and cassis finish that is trying a bit too hard. Disappointing: this seems to have fallen apart in recent years. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Tasted blind. Sweet, rich and beguiling in a smooth Pomerol-Lite sort of way. Then quite tight and dry on the end. All the appeal is on the nose. (JR)
The 2016 Gracia has a lively, graphite-tinged bouquet that seems well defined and intense. It becomes more floral with aeration, suggesting iris and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a wonderful line of acidity and a harmonious, black-pepper-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is an excellent wine, from one of the last garagistes standing. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Warm, ripe, black-fruit nose verging on volatile(!) but very friendly and glamorous. Tannins pushing in on the end. Wait. (JR)
