An overt, complex rosé, showing strawberry pie, horseradish and lemon juice with buttery aromas. Light-bodied with crisp acidity, this is tight yet substantial. Good finish. Drink now.

The new release of Maillart's NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is based on the 2015 vintage, complemented by one-third reserve wines, and was disgorged in October 2019 with six grams per liter dosage. Bursting from the glass with expressive aromas of ripe red apples, pears, plums and fresh bread, it's fleshy and enveloping, with an ample core of fruit, ripe but racy acids and a nicely defined finish. Vinous and charming, it's a blend of 60% Pinot Noir (some 7% of which is still red wine) and 40% Chardonnay, all from Bouzy.
The NV Rose Brut is delicate and elegant on the nose, with some coffee flavors. This is very pure and fresh, with subtle fruit aromas. Pretty harsh and austere on the palate, as well as a bit rustic and drying in the finish. This needs food.
Ecueil. Disgorged July 2007, residual sugar 5 g/l Mid strawberry colour. Quite full and developed on the nose. Big and blustery. Good back label! (JR)
