I loved the nose of the 2021 Château La Louvière Blanc, which is all Sauvignon Blanc aged 10 months in oak. Possessing a touch of good reduction in its citrus, honeyed melon, minty herbs, and spicy nuances, this beauty hits the palate with medium-bodied richness and a nicely textured, balanced, concentrated profile that has high yet integrated acidity. It shows the vibrant, racy style of the vintage, but it brings beautiful depth and tension.
The 2021 La Louvière Blanc has a very energetic bouquet with yellow plum, quince and crushed limestone scents. The just leaps from the glass. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with a nervous, tensile finish. Excellent. This comes highly recommended given market prices.
The 2021 La Louvière Blanc is a pretty, airy white to drink now and over the next year or two. Apricot, tangerine peel, passionfruit and mint give the 2021 a good bit of exotic character. This is a solid offering, but it’s also a bit diffuse and lacking in coherence.

Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
