Note di degustazione
A biodynamic and certified-organic wine, the San Polino 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers more depth and complexity next to the two wines from 2017 also hitting the market now. These are qualities of the classic 2016 vintage, and they are played out to good effect in this bottle. The bouquet is redolent of ripe cherry, blackberry, spice and earthy tones, but the tannins are less aggressive in this wine. The acidity also feels brighter. 2,666 bottles were made.

Mid to deep lustrous ruby. Deep, complex savoury and earthy cherry with saline hints. Intense, ripe cherry fruit palate with perfectly integrated acidity and bags of gravelly, chewy tannins. Generous and intense and not ready by far. (WS)
A dark bouquet of cherry and plum sauces mixed with clove and grapefruit peels creates a deeply alluring expression as the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva blossoms in the glass. This is pure elegance, rich and pliant, even polished in feel, as masses of mineral-tinged red berries flow across a core of vibrant acidity. The tannins arrive late, mingling with a coating of primary fruit concentration that leaves a classically dry impression, yet one of unrealized potential. The 2016 Riserva is geared for the cellar and sure to make fans of San Polino very happy once it reaches full maturity.
