As in 2023, the 2022 Gigondas Le Poste is the standout in the lineup, and it’s clearly one of the wines of the vintage. Coming from older vines just up the hill from the château and partially destemmed Grenache, it has a brilliant core of red and black fruits, graphite, Provençal spices, and ground pepper. Layered, full-bodied, concentrated, and incredibly well-balanced, with ripe tannins, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age if you can and will blow you away over the following two decades.

The 2022 Gigondas le Poste is derived from vines planted on the limestone, marl soils of lieu-dit Le Poste, near the Saint Cosme chapel. Revealing a floral, elegant bouquet of iris, violet, pepper, licorice and dark cherries, it's full-bodied, tense and crystalline with a sappy, layered texture framed by sweet, velvety tannins, concluding with a long, delicately peppery finish. Matured 20% in new casks, 50% in one-year-old barrels and the rest in two-year-old barrels, this 100% Grenache is a real success that could age gracefully over the next 20 years.
The 2022 Gigondas Le Poste has closed down, requiring sufficient aeration to unearth ripe black fruits, cedar, licorice and blueberry alongside leafy shadings. Packed with solid concentration and lifting freshness, the 2022 is a firmly structured and time demanding Le Poste built for the long haul.
100% Grenache. Aged in new oak casks (20%), one-year-old casks (50%) and two-year-old casks (30%). Certified organic. Cask sample. Tasted blind. A sapid, attractive nose. Raspberry, strawberry and leather. The palate is dense and tightly wound, with firmly coiled tannins, sweet spice, tobacco and liquorice root. There is so much energy waiting underneath – this needs plenty of time to show itself. Has great potential. (AC)
