Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2022-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Jun 2025

Full bottle 1,472 g. 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Bianco. ‘Already labelled by many as “classic”, 2018 is seen as one of the most harmonious vintages of the last decade due to regular weather patterns and a prolonged ripening season that lasted well into perfect autumn days. From the onset of budburst, the growth season proceeded smoothly until picking.’ Harvest 28 August to 10 September. Very rich! Grand Cru weight with a certain oiliness. This is a love or loathe wine that deserves to be served with some substantial food – lobster? (JR)

50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Bianco. ‘Already labelled by many as “classic”, 2018 is for sure one of the most harmonious vintages of the last decade due to regular weather patterns and a prolonged ripening season that lasted well into perfect Autumn days. From the onset of budburst, the growth season proceeded smoothly until picking.’ Harvest 28 August to 10 September . Mid straw colour. Restrained nose with some sweetness but not obvious alcohol – so not like California Chardonnay! Almondy – a bit like Corton-Charlemagne. Not as savoury as Bâtard-Montrachet ! Though it does have weight. (JR)

The 2018 Batàr is perfumed and gracious, with lovely orchard fruit, chamomile and floral notes that lift effortlessly from the glass. A wine of total precision and nuance, the 2018 is simply exquisite today. Stylistically it is a bit more perfumed and lighter than is the norm.
