This is aromatically similar to the Charmes with perhaps just a bit more elegance and depth. There is a distinctly cool and restrained character to the strikingly well-delineated and very sleekly muscular middle weight plus flavors that are almost pungently stony, all wrapped in a mildly austere, classy and refined finale. What I find interesting here is that this is quite firmly structured yet the tannins are so fine that this is deceptively accessible. (AM)

The 2014 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with hints of raspberry coulis and violet, light for a Griotte, but demonstrating clarity and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, well-pitched acidity, linear at first, but gently fanning out towards the tender finish with a sustained saline aftertaste. It has not quite evolved the exuberance of a Griotte-Chambertin yet, however, there is impressive tension and intensity all the way through.
Pale, bright red. Alluring aromas of musky raspberry and crushed rock. Pure silk on the palate, conveying an ineffable light touch to the flavors of raspberry and saline minerality. A wine of great class and energy, finishing with noble tannins and mouthfilling perfume. It's hard to find Gevrey dirt here; in fact, Saouma referred to this stunning wine as "Les Amoureuses-Chambertin." (ST)
