Note di degustazione
The 2019 Santorini Cuvée Monsignori is another enticing Assyrtiko. Swirling the glass reveals pronounced grapefruit, pear, crushed rocks and a hint of nettle, giving it a leafy edge. Pastry and oyster shell add more complexity. Medium- to full-bodied and markedly concentrated, the 2019 is underpinned by piercing acidity, doubling down with salty subtleties on the long, tensile finale.

Vineyards in Episkopi. A cool vintage. Fermented in tank at 16–17 °C then 11 months on lees in tank. TA 7.1 g/l, pH 3.06. Smoky stone dust. Rich in utterly pure creamy citrus. Fabulous balance and enormous complexity. Intensely mineral, lightly cedary and with a lovely grip on the finish. (JH)
The Estate Argyros 2019 Santorini Assyrtiko Cuvee Monsignori shows signs of pretty evolution with ozone and paraffin wax that lift first from the bouquet. Immediately under those fleeting tones are more robust aromas of ripe peach and honeydew melon. The wine is quite fluid and ever-changing, showing new sides a few minutes later, as those delicate tertiary notes gently fold into the generous texture of this wine. This vintage delivers extra richness and firmness.
Only the oldest vines (>200 years) on the island. No oak. On fine lees for 8 months to encourage autolysis. Two years in bottle. Intended to be most representative of Santorini Assyrtiko – how Santorini should be. 20,000–30,000 bottles produced. 2019 is the current vintage. Very pure and intense nose. Long and complex. Nothing in the way. (JR)
