1989 Trimbach - Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile VT

This wine, re-released recently, is a still-youthful-looking green gold and offers up a rich panoply of vegetable-based scents: botrytis, cabbage and exoticism come to mind, along with woodsmoke and lychee. Very, very long and powerful. Extremely pure and finely etched. Pungent and not too obviously sweet, despite its quite high residual sugar. (JR)
