Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2004-2009, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2004

Rich floral and slate aromas are found in the nose of the 2002 Riesling Kabinett Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Light to medium-bodied, softly-textured, as well as expressive, this is a flint, slate, and candied lime-flavored effort. It should be enjoyed over the next 4-5 years.

Very open in the nose (unlike its Graacher counterpart), with clover, vanilla and apple blossom aromas that continue across the palate. Bright, savory fruit acids along with discreet trapped CO2 make for a mouthwatering and refreshing bath of flowers and liquid slate. Uplifting and long, this should become a classic of its type, a type you can enjoy drinking a couple of years from now or a dozen years from now. Prum insists that in site-typical fashion, this will slowly overtake the Graacher in expressing its inherently more multifaceted personality. Potential 2 stars.
