2016 Schloss Lieser Bernkastler Doctor Riesling Spatlese AP 28 (Auction)

This auction Spätlese leads with site-typical muskiness allied to scents of very ripe peach and Persian melon. Lusciously dripping with fruit, the subtly creamy palate incorporates just enough fresh fruit brightness to animate and refresh, and the lingering finish harbors a mouthwatering abundance of marine salinity. While for now at least less dynamic and marginally less complex than this year’s Goldtröpfchen Spätlese, this Doctor’s sheer sumptuousness and persistence are seductive.
