In the same mold as the 2009, the 2007 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Quartz is an incredibly, sexy, Provençal, crazily perfumed beauty that could come from nowhere else. Lots of kirsch liqueur, blackberries, garrigue, licorice, and incense notes dominate the bouquet. Full-bodied, opulent, and powerful on the palate, it has sweet tannins, remarkable purity, and a great, great finish. It’s another tour de force from this estate that’s drinking at point today.

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape les Quartz (85% Grenache and 15% Syrah) is another tour de force from this incredible vintage in the Southern Rhône. Ripe, full-bodied, supple and seamless, with sensational notes of roasted meats, incense, black currants, leather and spice, this beauty has tons of mid-palate depth, sweet tannin and a huge finish. It’s drunk nicely since release and will easily keep for another decade.
(85% grenache and 15% syrah) Glass-staining ruby. Vivid raspberry and mulberry scents are complemented by dried violet and licorice. Showing more vivacity than it did last year, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and showing no rough edges or obvious tannins. The finish repeats the dark berry and licorice notes and lingers with impressive persistence.
