The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has the most mineral-driven bouquet of three tasted blind from this vineyard; it is taut and linear, a little more Puligny-esque than its peers. The palate is well balanced, with a lip-smacking saline note that really gets the saliva flowing. There is a great deal of buoyancy and vivacity contained in this Chassagne-Montrachet, and it should repay cellaring if so desired. That said, I would not discourage anyone from cracking this open now. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

(13.6% alcohol): Bright yellow. White peach, white pepper, mint and menthol on the rather cool nose. Concentrated, fine-grained and youthfully tight, showing limited give to its citrus and herb flavors. Sharply chiseled wine but its herbal pungency gives the finish a slightly bitter dry edge. Tough going today but I suspect this wine will eventually merit a 90+ rating.
Cask sample. Mealy and spiced but with a strong mineral note – and you have to get past the SO2 that shows at the moment (but will disappear). Zesty oaked grapefruit on the palate. Good tension and length. A step up from the Chaumées. (JH)
