Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2021-2040, Neal Martin, Aug 2021

The 2008 Corton-Charlemagne, served from magnum, swats away the 2007! Tense, nervous and energetic on the nose, this exudes wonderful mineralité , hints of orange blossom and saffron emerging with time. The palate displays exquisite balance, the acidity cutting through the richness of fruit and conveying far more energy than the 2007. There is just the right bitterness on the finish. This is drinking perfectly now and should continue to cruise for some years. Tasted at the Sanglier dinner at the Hameau de Barberon.

Highly complex, vibrant aromas of lime peel, crushed stone, clove, quinine and ginger. Much more citric than most of the foregoing examples, with penetrating acidity leavening the wine's sweetness. In a distinctly tighter and drier style, showing less personality today and finishing with a firm edge. This will need considerable patience. Half the fruit is from Aloxe and the other half is from Pernand, noted Colin, who picked both parcels on the same day.

Since 2003, half from Pernand side and half from Aloxe side. Picked the same day even though the Pernand grapes are usually much less ripe. An unusual ripeness (for Colin-Morey) on the nose and an unusual tightness (for Corton Charlemagne). Broad and open compared to the Perrières. Very solid and big and bold. Savoury. Ambitious, long, lemon and savoury. No sweetness. Long. (JR)

Very pale color. Reduced aromas of pineapple, ginger and liquid stone, complicated by medicinal herbs and flowers. Pure, vibrant, stony and dry, with superb lift to the flavors of apple and medicinal herbs. Nothing exotic about this beauty. Offers outstanding potential.
