2015 Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru

Pale yellow. Musky aromas of pear, crushed stone and smoke. Nicely fat and sweet, with lovely depth of flavor and texture and an edge of lemony acidity to give it shape. The slightly aggressive, tactile finish dusts the palate with lemon, smoke and stone. This is considerably sweeter than the 2016 version but boasts very good balance and stuffing. Colin emphasized that he did not acidify any of his 2015 whites and allowed the malolactic fermentations to finish.

Cask sample. Racked in September for bottling in March 2017. A restrained nose. But savoury and muscly on the palate. Very bright and energetic. Medium length. (JR)

Reticent, high-pitched nose hints at spices and dusty stone. Then fat, broad and sweet in the mouth, with yellow peach and spice flavors dominating. Concentrated but a bit aggressive, if still youthfully bound-up. Finishes with a menthol note and a touch of bitterness.
