1978 Domaine René Leclerc Gevrey-Chambertin Combe aux Moines 1er Cru

Pale but bright ruby. There is still rich, sweet fruit here. Bitter cherries in abundance. Juicy. Very sweet with just a hint of decay. This fell apart a little in the glass and developed light treacly flavours. Not the freshest fruit in the end with a hint of iron on the finish. This may well have been better. (JR)
