This is a bit like the 2006 in the sense of being more Montrachet than Chevalier in character as this is an even bigger wine and blind, it could easily pass for a distinguished Monty. A highly expressive, very ripe and slightly exotic pain grillé-infused nose of superb aromatic elegance and complexity marries into borderline painfully intense, refined, focused and pure big-bodied flavors that are broad-scaled, rich and naturally sweet. Despite all the punch, they remain in absolutely perfect balance as the density of the mid-palate buffers completely the very firm acid spine on the stunningly long finish. This will live for years and is one of the wines of the vintage.

Very pure but reticent aromas of pineapple, lemon peel, minerals, iodine and clove. Powerful on the attack, then cooler and more restrained in the middle than the "regular" Chevalier. Wonderfully pure but stony and dry, even austere. Very young wine, distinctly less sexy today than the Chevalier but chewy with extract.

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most established wine producers. Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, it is the largest vineyard owner in the Côte d’Or with 130 hectares of vines.
