The 2018 Syrah Arnaut Boushey Vineyard is all varietal and was 85% destemmed and aged 16 months in 15% new French oak. Offering an Hermitage-like meatiness as well as lots of black and blue fruits, full-bodied richness, a round, expansive texture, and beautiful violet, floral, and gamey aromas and flavors, it’s brilliant, concentrated red delivering notable ripeness as well as a plenty of underlying structure and tannins. Again, a comparison to a top Hermitage comes closest in comparison. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.

Bright ruby. Aromatic nose combines blackberry, violet and black pepper; darker than the Justine blend. Fine-grained, tightly wound, juicy and very concentrated yet smooth from the start. Highly concentrated dark berry, spice, pepper and violet flavors could benefit from another year or two to meld--or give this wine some time in a decanter. This structured but smooth Syrah finishes with firm-edged dusty tannins, subtle sweetness and excellent length. (aged in 15% new French oak; made from vines planted in 1996 and 1994)
The 2018 Syrah Boushey Vineyard Arnaut has an opaque ruby color and nuanced aromas of wild berry jam, lilac, damp earth, mushrooms and meaty undertones. The full-bodied palate is ripe and hedonistic with gently candied flavors. It has soft tannins, surprisingly fresh acidity and a long, layered finish.
