Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2013, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2013

Prunotto's 2009 Barbaresco is just as impressive as it was last year. A seductive, polished wine, the 2009 graces the palate with succulent red berries, sweet tobacco, licorice, wild flowers and savory herbs. The 2009 can be enjoyed today with some decanting and will continue to drink well for another decade-plus. This is a beautiful entry-level showing from Prunotto.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2014-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2012

The 2009 Barbaresco blossoms on the palate with dried herbs, tobacco, crushed flowers and sweet red berries. The aromas and flavors are those of a warm vintage, yet there is considerable structure underpinning the fruit. Although likely to be a relatively fast-maturing wine, the 2009 should probably be cellared for another year or two to allow the tannins to soften. This is quite impressive for an entry-level Barbaresco.

In particular, this year I was impressed with the quality and consistency of the entry-level offerings. Importer: Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Woodinville, WA, tel. (425) 415-3738

Barbaresco, Treiso. Palish ruby with broad orange rim. Herbaceous and austere. Not entirely ripe it seems. Stingy. (WS)
