Slightly more exotic, as well as fresh, the 2015 Malbec Rockpile Ridge (barrel-fermented and aged two years in new oak) gives up lots of blue fruits, spring flowers, hints of citrus rind, and sappy flowers. Like the Farrow Ranch, it has good acidity, a silky texture, building tannin, and a singular character. It's a sensational Malbec that's up with the crème de la crème of this variety. Hats off to winemaker Jesse Katz for this truly sensational red! Devil Proof Vineyards is a collaboration between father and son Andy and Jesse Katz, with Jesse making the wines, focusing on two single vineyards and 100% Malbec. The wines are brilliant and unquestionably some of the finest expressions of Malbec out there.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Malbec Rockpile Ridge Vineyard delivers a profound nose of crushed blackberries, warm black plums and mulberries with nuances of smoked meats, tapenade, dried lavender and raisin cake plus a touch of mocha. Full-bodied, concentrated and full-on decadent, it completely coats the mouth with layered black fruits and exotic spices, framed by firm yet wonderfully ripe, plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and spicy. 640 cases produced.
