2023 Hamilton Russell - Ashbourne "Sandstone"

A blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Chardonnay and 11% Sémillon, the Ashbourne 2023 Hemel-En-Aarde Valley Sandstone wants to be a South African white blend that reflects marine influences without the Chenin Blanc. This fragrant expression delivers orchard fruit, preserved lemon, tropical notes and lasting mineral sensations. The Sauvignon Blanc is made in amphorae in order to downplay its aromas, and the wine will probably focus more on Chardonnay in the future (shifting away from the Sémillon).
