Medium to deep ruby-purple, the 2018 Syrah Rim Rock Vineyard has slowly opening aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, violet and graphite. The palate is concentrated and savory with a grainy, fresh structure and long finish. It will benefit from a bit more time in bottle. 164 cases produced.

The 2018 Syrah Rim Rock Vineyard is the most reticent of these wines. All of its considerable energy is inward at this stage. Crushed rocks, dark raspberry, flowers, mint and iron are all laced together. Readers will have to be patient. There is plenty to look forward to, but I suspect the Rim Rock will always a be a touch linear and taut in feel. I really like the energy and saline intensity here.
