Note di degustazione
The 2020 Prince of Hearts Red Wine is approximately 50% Merlot, with the rest a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. While attractively scented with aromas of cherries, cassis and mocha, this medium to full-bodied effort comes across as slightly tough and chewy, with an edgy feel on the palate. It's solid but not great. Give it a year or two to soften, but don't hold it more than a decade or so or you risk it drying out.

The 2020 Prince of Hearts is the only wine Claude and Katherine Blankiet bottled in 2020. It possesses quite a bit of depth and power, along with the distinctly ripe profile of a year marked by severe heat and drought before fires became an issue. This is a good example of a wine that is smoke-affected, but not tainted. Because of the severe lack of sunlight, sugars ripened while phenolics stalled. As a result the tannins are a bit severe. Even so, this is a very good wine.
