Checking in as a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 21 months in 52% new French oak. Its vivid ruby/plum color gives way to a classically constructed, concentrated effort that has beautiful depth of fruit, building tannins, and a great finish. It's going to age like a great Saint-Julien and have 15+ years of longevity. 975 cases. While I continue to love the wines from Gramercy Cellars, I found these latest releases, while still outstanding, to be a clear step down from previous vintages.

Bright, full red. Precise aromas of sweet cassis, redcurrant, plum, mocha, licorice, menthol and minerals, with the tiny percentage of Petit Verdot adding an inky quality. A sweet element of red cherry syrup is complicated by spice notes of coriander, nutmeg and mace, with harmonious balancing acidity giving shape and grip to the middle palate. As much red as black in character, this intense, tactile Cabernet finishes with intriguing salinity and terrific length. It should evolve slowly and gracefully. (14.3% alcohol)
