Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2025-2045, Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com, Dec 2025

Lanson’s classic vintage bottling, with 52% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, the 2008 Champagne Le Vintage Brut has more mature and layered aromatics compared to the Blanc de Blancs original disgorgement, and it's aging beautifully, with notes of fresh croissant, aromatic red fruits, strawberry preserve, peaches, and apricots. On the palate, it’s mouthwatering and focused, with a pillowy mousse, refreshing acidity, and a compact feel. With the Chardonnay driving the structure, this 2008 is lovely in its integration, yet also fresh and vibrant, with fantastic energy and a hint of saltiness. Drink 2025-2045. Disgorged in February 2016.

In all probability the finest rendition of this cuvée since 1996, Lanson's 2008 Brut Vintage Gold Label is an impressive wine in the making, unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, lemon oil, orange rind, apple and freshly baked sourdough. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a concentrated but tight-knit profile that exemplifies the house's non-malo style, concluding with a long and penetrating finish. It's a terrific value in the world of seriously age-worthy Champagne.

Lanson’s 2008 Millésime Gold Label is bright and finely cut, with a good bit of energy running through the citrus and floral-infused flavors. Even so, the 2008 is a relatively open wine for the year that looks like it will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later.

The 2008 Gold Label Vintage Extra Brut is a 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Fresh, lean and intense, this is a very elegant, pure and refined classic with a lovely mineral expression; it has refreshing lemon flavors in the very good finish. This is made in a lean and complex style. Excellent, although it needs a few years of ageing. Disgorged in July 2015.
