The 2019 George de Latour Private Reserve is Beaulieu Vineyard's top cuveé. First released in 1940, under the insistence of Napa legend André Tchelistcheff, the wine has become one of the great historic cult Cabernets of Napa. The 2019 George de Latour Private Reserve has that lovely small-berry fruit concentration you only find in top vintages, producing an impressively rich, dense core of fruit on the palate and ample, detailed tannins. The wine has great structure, providing depth, and texturally feels both solidly firm and yet elegant. Peppery spice from some top-quality oak is integrated perfectly with the fruit and the wine finishes with a refreshing, pulsing burst of energy. It is excellent.

Lastly, the Grand Vin 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges De Latour Private Reserve is just about pure perfection, and the fact that there are roughly 12,000 cases is incredible. Classis darker fruits (cassis, currants) as well as chocolate, leafy tobacco, and loamy earth all define the bouquet, and this full-bodied, concentrated, powerful, yet also elegant 2019 has the balance and structure to evolve for decades. It should be relatively easy to find this in the market, and you won't be disappointed.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour is an infant, but it is shaping up to be a real gem. The 2019 includes 9% Petit Verdot, the highest ever, an approach that works here in giving the wine tremendous aromatic presence and overall depth. A whole range of savory and earthy notes lends complexity to this powerhouse Georges de Latour. The 2019 is impressive, that much is evident. (AG) 97+
