Composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder was aged for 14 months in French oak, 20% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it drifts elegantly out of the glass with fragrant scents of Morello cherries, redcurrant jelly, cassis and mulberries, plus wafts of rose oil, stewed tea and unsmoked cigars. The medium to full-bodied palate has a plush texture and bags of perfumed black and red fruits, supported by a lively line and finishing long and earthy. 159 cases were made.

Extremely pure fruit with blueberries and blackcurrants. Lavender, too. Full body. Stony and slightly austere tannins, but real mountain character. Needs two to three years to soften a little, but I like it.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a richer, broader, more concentrated wine, yet it also has a serious amount of tannins. Lots of dark chocolate, blackcurrant, forest floor, and espresso notes all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated, impressive effort that’s going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and have 20+ years of longevity. The blend is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% each of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder) is another huge, tannic wine from Mt. Brave. Inky dark fruit, blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, spice and new leather are all kicked up a few notches in this dramatic, unctuous wine. Huge tannins wrap around all of the fruit in a big, potent Cabernet endowed with tremendous personality and class. (AG)
