Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2008-2014, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2007

Sweet and smelling slightly reminiscent of American oak. The vanilla scents have not yet subsided but the texture is admirably sleek and silky. Impressive. (JR)

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2008-2016, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Dec 2006

Argiano’s deeply-colored 2001 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pretty, aromatic nose along with notes of super-ripe fruit, sweet toasted oak, vanilla, tobacco and earthiness on a medium bodied frame of notable length and elegance, closing with fine tannins. It strikes a nice balance between modern and traditional styles, offering the flavors of the former and the structure of the latter. Several recent bottles have all been outstanding. It should be at its finest between 2008 and 2016. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200

Full red. Highly complex aromas of medicinal black cherry, mocha, licorice and black olive, with a roasted aspect and a whiff of celery seed. Sweet, densely packed and concentrated, with lush, seamless dark fruit flavors spreading out to saturate the palate. A big, firmly structured Brunello that finishes with ripe tannins and intriguing hints of iron and peat.
