The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes is intense, rich and very long on the palate. Intense, spiced notes meld into dark red berries in this fleshy, totally seductive version of Mes Favorites. Mineral notes appear later, giving the wine its energy. This is a fabulous Favorites.

Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. Burguet is one of the few domaines I visited where the overall level of the 2009s appears to be higher than the 2010s. Burguet's 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes is a dark, inward wine. This isn't one of the more open 2009s, rather it is a wine that is likely to require a measure of patience. Deep layers of minerality add to the sensation of thrust and drive on the finish. The Vieilles Vignes is a selection of 70+ year old vines across 18 different parcels with average yields well below 30 hectoliters per hectare.
