Sweet red cherries, pepper, and cinnamon can be found in the aromas of the medium to dark ruby-colored 2001 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Cailles. This lush, light to medium-bodied wine has excellent to outstanding depth of fruit, a forward, generous character, and reveals spiced red cherry flavors. Projected maturity: now-2008. Cask sample. Voluptuous, flattering, round, nerveux. Real burgundy. Lighter than some. (JR)
Bright red-ruby. Lively aromas of blackcurrant, smoke and game. Fat, silky, suave and full; still a bit backward and unforthcoming but seems a bit less minerally and more pliant than usual for this wine at this stage. Finishes long and subtle, with sweet tannins.
