Moderately saturated medium red. Expressive nose melds red raspberry, dried flowers, smoke, earth, spices, truffle and a whiff of mushroom. Wonderfully silky and seamless on the palate, with serious minerality and thrust giving it a rather powerful impression. More about breadth than sappiness but still fresher in the mouth than on the nose, with notes of earth and dried flowers carrying through. The dusty tannins arrive quite late and build slowly, allowing the wine's saline energy to extend the finish.

The dark ruby-colored 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Pruliers exhibits blackberry and licorice aromas. Medium to full-bodied and chewy, it exhibits jammy blackberry, cassis liqueur, and freshly laid road tar flavors. It is thick and dense, yet zesty and fresh. Bright red. Fresh, precise aromas of blackberry and minerals. Tightly wrapped, pure and high-pitched; younger and more primary than the wines that preceded it, no doubt due in part to the later malolactic fermentation. Finishes with somewhat tougher tannins and good grip.
