Tasted blind at Flint Wines’ 2007/2012 Nuits Saint-Georges tasting in London. The 2007 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles from Domaine Robert Chevillon offers smudged mulberry and damp earth aromas on the nose that feels just a tad fatigued after almost a decade. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, touches of dark berry fruit with grainy tannins and an austere, rather attenuated finish. This was a beguiling Les Cailles in its youth, though like many 2007s its inevitable "descent" seems to be more rapid and earlier than expected. Tasted November 2016.

Tasted blind. Pale ruby. Lift and minerally charm. Very transparent and racy and thoroughly satisfying, with sweetness and drive. Long. (JR)
Light ruby. Very perfumed and more aérien than the Pruliers 2007 from the same address. Sweet, elegant start with some tannins and acidity still in evidence. Much more youthful than the Pruliers. Racy and juicy even if hardly ethereal. (JR)
Good medium red. Black fruit and violet aromas lifted by a stony nuance. Sweet, intense and quite structured for 2007, with a superb stony underpinning to the strawberry and raspberry fruit flavors. Finishes pliant and long. This will be ready before the 2008, but there may be even more mid-palate sweetness here.
