The 2023 Riesling Dhroner Hofberg Kabinett features a slight lift of herb surrounding its candied lemon peel nose. Hay and dried nettle give a herbal tisane texture to the lemony, smooth palate that tingles with freshness. Light, vivid, full of energy and elan, this wine skips along and is a joy to taste.

The 2023 Riesling Dhroner Hofberg Alte Reben Kabinett opens with a mere hint of green-yellow zestiness, like pale lemon. The palate is equally zesty and restrained in its sweetness, coming across as merely medium sweet, with 45 g/l of residual sugar pitched against 9.5 g/L of acidity. It’s wonderfully fresh, with breezy and elongated purity. Lip-smacking and understated, this exquisite wine resonates through the long finish. Available at auction: 600 bottles, 36 magnums. (Medium)
Grosse Lage. A parcel with an exceptionally high quotient of iron oxide and quartz. The Kabinett style keeps the wine radiant and refined instead of dry, rich and opulent. Slender, with a stunning citrus, lacy coolness. Lemon peel, white flowers, lemon balm. Deep and nuanced. The same tingling weightlessness that marks the rest of the collection is a stunning, unmistakable through line. Creamy, leesy finish shows where perhaps the weight (and wine) could have gone in other hands, but didn't. Exceptionally long. (PS)
