Note di degustazione
The 2003 Barolo Acclivi is made in a light-bodied, delicate style that recalls the wines of northern Piedmont. High-toned aromatics lead to candied red cherries, flowers and mountain herbs. The warmth of the vintage has helped fill out the wine's frame nicely, providing a lovely counterpoint to the tannins. The wine finishes long and sweet.

This historic estate is based in Verduno, one of the lesser-known villages in the Barolo district. The Burotto Barolos are very quirky, fragrant wines with a level of herbaceousness that frankly I find quite distracting. Other tasters may feel differently, but these Barolos occupy an extreme position vis-a-vis the vast majority of wines being made today. Importer: The Rare Wine Co., Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4484
