Note di degustazione
Others liked the 1988 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs more than myself. Personally, I much prefer the 1989 and 1990. The nose is stalky with beetroot and "wet root" aromas, a lot of mulch and undergrowth here, which can be abided if backed up with sufficient fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, tannic and rather raw with some vegetal, raw bell pepper notes towards the finish. So-so.
